STAGE FLASH

Date:04/10/2019
Section:2
Special Stage:SS9 Dyfnant 2 (19.36 km)

8. Ott Tänak (EST) / Martin Järveoja (EST) - Toyota Yaris WRC
I tried to have a good run but - yes.

1. Sébastien Ogier (FRA) / Julien Ingrassia (FRA) - Citroen C3 WRC
It was OK but I didn't trust the grip enough. Aberhirnant is always a tricky one so we'll have to survive that one.

11. Thierry Neuville (BEL) / Nicolas Gilsoul (BEL) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
It's a tricky stage and getting quite dark. Ott is 6 minutes in front and I guess the visability is much better. I was playing with the lights on and off to try and see. I was on the soft tyres as well, perhps it's too rough for them.

89. Andreas Mikkelsen (NOR) / Anders Jaeger (NOR) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
It was very difficult like predicted. We had an OK run, I was very careful toward the end where we have much better grip, but then we had grip and lost it. Not an easy stage.

5. Kris Meeke (GBR) / Sebastian Marshall (GBR) - Toyota Yaris WRC
That was quite good. There is a lot more consistant grip this evening. Aberhirnant was very tricky earlier, the roads seem to be better on the second pass but we have to keep a guard.

3. Teemu Suninen (FIN) / Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN) - Ford Fiesta WRC
That was extremely challenging. In the dark it's really hard to see if it's grippy or muddy. Hopefully I did not lose too much time.

33. Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR) - Ford Fiesta WRC
What can you do when someone at the front gets it in full daylight then you have to judge the grip in the dark. It's impossible.

7. Pontus Tidemand (SWE) / Ola Floene (NOR) - Ford Fiesta WRC
It was difficult. This stage I enjoyed the drive.

42. Craig Breen (IRL) / Paul Nagle (IRL) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
It's really really tricky in some places. Lights on and lights off. It would be better in full dark, foggy and twilight in some places.

21. Kalle Rovanperä (FIN) / Jonne Halttunen (FIN) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
The tyre came off from the beginning of the stage from nowhere, a big smooth road. No idea.

24. Jan Kopecky (CZE) / Pavel Dresler (CZE) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
It's really tricky conditions. On one section there is huge water on the ground, we came into it and we couldn't see where the road was, then on the other side we were still on the road!

41. Benito Guerra (MEX) / Jaime Zapata (MEX) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
We had a problem with the lights, they turned off. We lost maybe 40 seconds. For the next stage we will fix it but we did this stage without lights.

43. Pierre-louis Loubet (FRA) / Vincent Landais (FRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
I was careful, but it was ok. I don't enjoy the dark but it's fun.

49. Marco Bulacia (BOL) / Fabian Cretu (ARG) - Skoda Fabia R5
It's my first stage at night so it was very, very, very difficult for me. The damage on the front is from when I cut a corner.

47. Fabio Andolfi (ITA) / Simone Scattolin (ITA) - Skoda Fabia R5
Night is more difficult. I had the lights moving. Not good for seeing.

50. Paulo Nobre (BRA) / Gabriel Morales (BRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
[laughs] It's too tense for a 51 year old man like me! My god! Yes, I tried to see the road but sometimes in the dark it's much more complicated. It's still very slippery, very twisty. It was more a challenge than fun.

46. Alberto Heller (CHL) / Jose Diaz (ARG) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
Very difficult in the night, we don't have the pace as it's our first time here. We enjoy it, we're learning and will improve for next time.

53. Adrien Fourmaux (FRA) / Renaud Jamoul (BEL) - Ford Fiesta R5
On my first time on gravel in the night, not easy but I'm quite happy. It was a good stage. The stage before was cancelled and this was a big challenge.

55. Petter Solberg (NOR) / Phil Mills (GBR) - Volkswagen Polo R5
It's good fun but this is hard work, you know!

56. Guillaume De Mevius (BEL) / Martijn Wydaeghe (BEL) - Citroen C3 R5
The puncture was at the end, I saw nothing. I have had a puncture twice but I only have one tyre so for the next stage, I don't know.

51. Rhys Yates (GBR) / James Morgan (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
I can't see anything, I just struggled through there. We're alright on the brakes but we need to adjust them for the next one.

71. Tom Kristensson (SWE) / Henrik Appelskog (SWE) - Ford Fiesta R2
That was a really tough one that's for sure! Slippery, so important to keep in the line and the fog is coming. Yes it's tricky, that's all I can say. But it's ok. I think the next one is a little bit better.

72. Jan Solans (ESP) / Mauro Barreiro (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's really difficult to see in these conditions with a lot of fog, well - crazy. Maybe enjoying the fog!

75. Tom Williams (GBR) / Phil Hall (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
That was interesting. First time I've done a proper night stage in a while and it's so good that it's so different. Everything just feels so much faster. The next one's going to be really, really hard, really hard. A lot of off-camber corners.

76. Enrico Oldrati (ITA) / Elia De Guio (ITA) - Ford Fiesta R2
Now I have to check my lights because it wasn't the right direction, so now I have to check because we were completely blind. Let's see for the next one.

77. Sean Johnston (USA) / Alex Kihurani (USA) - Ford Fiesta R2
I absolutely love it! So much fun, oh my god! The first three quarters of that stage was absolutely brilliant, this last bit coming downhill through the forest was super gnarly so I think we were too conservative there but I'm generally very pleased with my performance through this stage.

78. Fabrizio Zaldivar (PRY) / Fernando Mussano (ARG) - Ford Fiesta R2
Very tricky stage, my first stage at night so let's see.

81. Keanna Erickson-Chang (USA) / Niall Burns (IRL) - Ford Fiesta R2
Not a big fan of night stages. But good fun little stage. Plan to just get through the next one.

92. Takamoto Katsuta (JPN) / Daniel Barritt (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
I enjoyed but mainly it was a little scary. It's more difficult to see the surface.

97. Eamonn Boland (IRL) / MJ (IRL) - Ford Fiesta R5
The last couple of kilometers were very slippy. But it didn't come up too bad.

100. Ruairi Bell (GBR) / Darren Garrod (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
I enjoyed it, I normally really like night stages but I just couldn't get into anything there. I was on and off the brakes burning everything out.

102. Josh Cornwell (GBR) / Dai Roberts (GBR) - Peugeot 208 R2
Not too bad, just trying to get the confidence back in the car. It's really hard to see, to find out where the grip is on the road.

103. Diego Dominguez (PRY) / Rogelio Lopez (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
I'm having a little trouble with the car, not good.
