STAGE FLASH

Date:04/10/2019
Section:2
Special Stage:SS5 Aberhirnant 1 (10.26 km)

8. Ott Tänak (EST) / Martin Järveoja (EST) - Toyota Yaris WRC
The stages just got more tricky. It's just so unpredictable, I don't know if it's because I'm opening the road. A lot of aquaplaning.

1. Sébastien Ogier (FRA) / Julien Ingrassia (FRA) - Citroen C3 WRC
Happy with the morning's stages, a couple of slippy parts at the beginning but happy to be at service. We'll see what the afternoon brings.

11. Thierry Neuville (BEL) / Nicolas Gilsoul (BEL) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
It was working ok, not perfect but working. It was really, really tricky.

89. Andreas Mikkelsen (NOR) / Anders Jaeger (NOR) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
The car felt better but I'm still not really comfortable. I still feel it's a long time since I've been driving on slippery conditions when it's really muddy. It takes some time to get used to it, to get comfortable enough to push. But the grip is better than expected, every stage is a small improvement.

5. Kris Meeke (GBR) / Sebastian Marshall (GBR) - Toyota Yaris WRC
That was treacherous in there, aquaplaning on the mud at the beginning. Surprised me a lot, it looked like quite a stony surface, but aquaplaning? That was not so good - it's the name of the game.

10. Jari-Matti Latvala (FIN) / Miikka Anttila (FIN) - Toyota Yaris WRC
It was a good push but was very, very, very slippy. I had one quite nasty moment on there, it was a good stage from that. it was in the middle of the stage over the crest on the right hand then you have a slow bank and then the left. I had to avoid the bank and then I missed it another way and went to the trees and back to the road, but that's Rally GB.

3. Teemu Suninen (FIN) / Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN) - Ford Fiesta WRC
It's been really difficult. It's good to be back in the rhythm. No changes planned in service.

33. Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR) - Ford Fiesta WRC
It was a bit strange at the end, loose surface. A general good stage. It's been enjoyable in difficult conditions. I'm really glad to be back here.

21. Kalle Rovanperä (FIN) / Jonne Halttunen (FIN) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
A lot better but it's been quite a struggle with a new setup on the car. The car is working well but still I have a lot of learning with the new setup. It's behaving a bit differently so there are a few moments when the car is doing something but I'm not so familiar and we have been making a few mistakes but otherwise it's all good.

23. Gus Greensmith (GBR) / Elliott Edmondson (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
Really fast, I had a spin on the last stage which cost us about 20 seconds but we made some back on the later stages. We're further back than we should be. We're going to have to push hard.

24. Jan Kopecky (CZE) / Pavel Dresler (CZE) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
It was difficult, a difficult morning but we are here, that's important.

41. Benito Guerra (MEX) / Jaime Zapata (MEX) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
The morning was a little bit difficult trying to adapt to the new car. It's difficult to find hte perfect setup for the suspension but I think the afternoon we'll have better times. Things are not going so bad so let's try to keep it like this, continue this long rally.

43. Pierre-louis Loubet (FRA) / Vincent Landais (FRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
It was ok, unfortunately the last stage before this one we spun, losing 15 seconds. But it was ok, we can be happy with the whole morning as it was quite difficult.

49. Marco Bulacia (BOL) / Fabian Cretu (ARG) - Skoda Fabia R5
Very difficult. The last stage was like driving on ice.

47. Fabio Andolfi (ITA) / Simone Scattolin (ITA) - Skoda Fabia R5
Good for us but not easy as the condition on the stage is difficult.

50. Paulo Nobre (BRA) / Gabriel Morales (BRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
It was really difficult, slippery, tricky. In some places I was a little bit afraid about our pace notes - if they are correct. If you make a mistake here, you fall in a ditch and you cannot get out. It's a challenge.

46. Alberto Heller (CHL) / Jose Diaz (ARG) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
It's good, no problems, no drama. For us it's the first time in GB, first time in the R5 and I think we're doing a great job but the target is to finish with no problems and finish all the stages.

53. Adrien Fourmaux (FRA) / Renaud Jamoul (BEL) - Ford Fiesta R5
Very good. Very enjoyable, I think the rain is better to drive on as it's cleaning the stones and there is a lot of grip. Sometimes it is slippery but it's quite OK. I really enjoy it, the first time here and it's unbelievable.

55. Petter Solberg (NOR) / Phil Mills (GBR) - Volkswagen Polo R5
It's been very difficult, we've tried to be very safe and smart. It's been a long time since we've been driving. But enjoy! That's the thing about the very difficult conditions. I'm very happy to be here actually. Feel sorry for Oliver with his problem but he will be back tomorrow.

51. Rhys Yates (GBR) / James Morgan (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
The first one was quite tricky, in Elsi, then, Penmachno that was really good, I enjoyed that, then Dyfnant was really tricky. The first bit was nice and wide, flowing. Then after where the stage ended last year, into the narrow bit then, really really tricky and slippy. I was looking forward to that one, Aberhirnant which got cancelled. But it felt like a long loop. I enjoyed it, getting used to the car and getting more comfortable and starting to link up the corners a bit better, getting one corner right and then the next corner - not the best. Good. Been a good loop.

72. Jan Solans (ESP) / Mauro Barreiro (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
We had two stage wins this morning but don't have the time for the last one because we don't have internet. I'd like to keep going like that and try not to make any mistakes.

75. Tom Williams (GBR) / Phil Hall (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
Mixed emotions. I'm really frustrated, I got a puncture this morning and we've caught two cars which went off in the Junior WRC which has been a bit annoying but we're off pace and yet we're on pace at the same time and we're third. So I'm happy but I'm not happy at the same time!

76. Enrico Oldrati (ITA) / Elia De Guio (ITA) - Ford Fiesta R2
Very slippery but first time here, I am trying to get more experience. Let's see on the second loop.

78. Fabrizio Zaldivar (PRY) / Fernando Mussano (ARG) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's been very good, very soft so let's see what we can do.

80. Ryan Booth (USA) / Rhianon Gelsomino (AUS) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's been really good. Just learning how these stage conditions are and learning what Wales Rally GB is all about.

81. Keanna Erickson-Chang (USA) / Niall Burns (IRL) - Ford Fiesta R2
Just trying to find a rhythm together still. The stages are great though but where it gets tricky, it does get really tricky fast. Having a good time, not looking forward to this one in the dark so much.

95. Josh Mcerlean (GBR) / Keaton Williams (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
It's been great learning this car. We've had a ball so we loving it.

91. Nikolay Gryazin (RUS) / Yaroslav Fedorov (RUS) - Skoda Fabia R5
Water. One puncture. Other things are ok. We decided to be careful in the water.

94. Tom Cave (GBR) / Dale Furniss (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
The first two stages we had no anti-lag, no wipers, cable broke so we didn't have any controls and I had to fix it. Dyfnant was ok. The conditions are so bad but there's nothing we can do about it until tomorrow.

96. Patrick Dejean (FRA) / Lionel Currat (FRA) - Ford Fiesta R5
Slippy! I had a puncture in the first one so I lost a lot of time. The second one I went a bit mad but the last one it was better.

97. Eamonn Boland (IRL) / MJ (IRL) - Ford Fiesta R5
The first one was very tricky, the middle two stages were OK.

100. Ruairi Bell (GBR) / Darren Garrod (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's been enjoyable. More work to do and I need to push a bit harder, but I'm happy for now.

101. Philippe Casado (FRA) / Kevin Bronner (FRA) - Peugeot 208 R2
Very, very difficult for me.

102. Josh Cornwell (GBR) / Dai Roberts (GBR) - Peugeot 208 R2
All good apart from the last stage which was a bit slippy in places but I am sure everyone's said that! The whole weekend's going to be slippy.

103. Diego Dominguez (PRY) / Rogelio Lopez (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
Mixed feelings, I think I have a great pace, found a great pace on stage 2, but we had a slow puncture then went into a ditch.
