STAGE FLASH

Date:04/10/2019
Section:2
Special Stage:SS4 Dyfnant 1 (19.36 km)

8. Ott Tänak (EST) / Martin Järveoja (EST) - Toyota Yaris WRC
It was tricky and some muddy and slushy places. It was nice to get this done. The first stage was difficult, we managed to improve the car a bit but we can improve it in service as well.

1. Sébastien Ogier (FRA) / Julien Ingrassia (FRA) - Citroen C3 WRC
A lot of standing water in there so a lot of aquaplaning in places.

11. Thierry Neuville (BEL) / Nicolas Gilsoul (BEL) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
The car felt OK in the stage. I was more able to place the car and keep the speed up. The speed was higher as well so more energy to put the car sideways. A tricky stage. Really slippery places toward the end, very easy to go off.

89. Andreas Mikkelsen (NOR) / Anders Jaeger (NOR) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
The last part was pretty incredible. Even when you are in a straight line the car starts to go sideways A big challenge!

5. Kris Meeke (GBR) / Sebastian Marshall (GBR) - Toyota Yaris WRC
I had a spin at a hairpin, overshot my braking and lost 2-3 seconds. Tricky stage, I don't know that my soft tyres were the right choice in there

10. Jari-Matti Latvala (FIN) / Miikka Anttila (FIN) - Toyota Yaris WRC
Very difficult. There was one junction toward the end I didn't expect to be so slippy and we almost went off. I saw other similar lines, the grip was very difficult through the stage.

3. Teemu Suninen (FIN) / Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN) - Ford Fiesta WRC
I needed to reverse but luckily the car is OK. Really difficult conditions

4. Esapekka Lappi (FIN) / Janne Ferm (FIN) - Citroen C3 WRC
I softened the suspension a little bit to try to gain grip but the grip is changing so quickly it's difficult. We had a huge moment as well, the end is really difficult, really crazy. Good that we are here.

33. Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR) - Ford Fiesta WRC
That's exceptionally difficult conditions. The mud towards the end where people had cut across the grass was treacherous, I was trying to stay in the claen line but it's difficult.

7. Pontus Tidemand (SWE) / Ola Floene (NOR) - Ford Fiesta WRC
This one was slippy for sure. We made a small change on the car and now the feeling is a little bit better. I get the car to move a bit more to get the feeling in the chassis.

42. Craig Breen (IRL) / Paul Nagle (IRL) - Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC
I had a very big moment toward the end of that stage on the grass. The grip is so much harder than it was other years. I wasn't in the trees, I was amoungst the trees. It wasn't high speed but it just got away from me.

21. Kalle Rovanperä (FIN) / Jonne Halttunen (FIN) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
These ones were really difficult. I made half a spin in one junction so I lost a lot of time there. It felt like the car was not so easy to drive as the last ones but I think it's the conditions. I try to keep a good pace but not take any big risks but to be fast in here you need to take big risks.

23. Gus Greensmith (GBR) / Elliott Edmondson (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
It started ok and I was catching up time on Kalle but I had a high speed spin and lost a lot of time. I got caught on some moss or mud and it spun me around.

22. Mads Ostberg (NOR) / Torstein Eriksen (NOR) - Citroen C3 R5
There is some grip available but difficult to take advantage. Quite a few times I lost the line, you go slightly off the road and lose so much time so quickly. It's OK but struggling a bit.

24. Jan Kopecky (CZE) / Pavel Dresler (CZE) - Skoda Fabia R5 Evo
We did three stages and every stage was different. For sure we are going slow but I don't want to take any risks because I want to finish and get some points for the team.

43. Pierre-louis Loubet (FRA) / Vincent Landais (FRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
I spun as we got to the end.

44. Ole Christian Veiby (NOR) / Jonas Andersson (SWE) - Volkswagen Polo R5
Very difficult, Hayden Paddon had stopped on the stage but they are OK.

49. Marco Bulacia (BOL) / Fabian Cretu (ARG) - Skoda Fabia R5
This stage was very slippery, the last part was like driving on ice. You have to be careful, but it's ok.

47. Fabio Andolfi (ITA) / Simone Scattolin (ITA) - Skoda Fabia R5
A good stage but these conditions are difficult for us, in Italy conditions are very different.

50. Paulo Nobre (BRA) / Gabriel Morales (BRA) - Skoda Fabia R5
It's really, really tricky, very slippery. It's 100% GB Rally. If you come here you cannot complain about mud or this kind of situation. We try to do our best, we try to go as fast as we can but I don't want to think about doing this special stage at night.

55. Petter Solberg (NOR) / Phil Mills (GBR) - Volkswagen Polo R5
Incredibly muddy. It's so easy to make a mistake. It's as if I don't have the experience to do this now, compared to the early days! I think that was crazy. Oliver has stopped this morning.

56. Guillaume De Mevius (BEL) / Martijn Wydaeghe (BEL) - Citroen C3 R5
It's my first time here and I am enjoying it a lot! Very dangerous, I was being very careful but it's very slippery.

51. Rhys Yates (GBR) / James Morgan (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
Hard work. Really slippy.

71. Tom Kristensson (SWE) / Henrik Appelskog (SWE) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's slippery at the end of the stage but I enjoy it very much, now I'm starting to feel more comfortable in the car on this kind of surface. I really hope I can continue to work with this and it's going to be good.

72. Jan Solans (ESP) / Mauro Barreiro (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
I went off during the last part of the stage. I did lose a bit of time but it was ok.

75. Tom Williams (GBR) / Phil Hall (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
Really hard work but I think everybody's saying the same thing. Very tricky.

76. Enrico Oldrati (ITA) / Elia De Guio (ITA) - Ford Fiesta R2
We have some trouble with the sealing of the front window so a lot of fog and it seems like it's raining inside. But it's OK, we will wait for the service.

77. Sean Johnston (USA) / Alex Kihurani (USA) - Ford Fiesta R2
We have a tree stuck in the front of the grille. We've had it there for about 8 km. I was checking the coolant temperature and it looked fine so I wasn't so worried about it but that last sector was incredibly slippery.

78. Fabrizio Zaldivar (PRY) / Fernando Mussano (ARG) - Ford Fiesta R2
Very tricky stage, a lot of mud. Very difficult to see where the grip is, but we are here.

80. Ryan Booth (USA) / Rhianon Gelsomino (AUS) - Ford Fiesta R2
Having a blast. Completely differerent to what we have in the U.S. but it's been a good learning process, and we had to do it at some point.

81. Keanna Erickson-Chang (USA) / Niall Burns (IRL) - Ford Fiesta R2
It's going alright, still working on finding our rhythm together but making progress. We haven't had many wet rallies this year so skidding, getting the feeling back.

95. Josh Mcerlean (GBR) / Keaton Williams (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
Pretty tricky stage. We decided to pull ourselves back to get through that one.

92. Takamoto Katsuta (JPN) / Daniel Barritt (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R5 Mkii
It's very tricky, very difficult.

94. Tom Cave (GBR) / Dale Furniss (GBR) - Hyundai NG i20 R5
We're not having a good morning. First two stages I've had no wipers, we've had to fix the wheel, get some wiring redone. First time we've had a good run on a stage so I'm not sure what the time will be like but I've pushed hard.

100. Ruairi Bell (GBR) / Darren Garrod (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
Tough work. Was good fun, but I don't think we have a very good time though. Seems I'm fighting the car all the way through. Not really that much grip.

102. Josh Cornwell (GBR) / Dai Roberts (GBR) - Peugeot 208 R2
It was really good apart from the last section when we've seen Paddon went off. Literally from then on it was bad all the way through.

103. Diego Dominguez (PRY) / Rogelio Lopez (ESP) - Ford Fiesta R2
Very, very fun. Still getting used to the car and trying to stay on the road, as there have been a lot of accidents here, three or four cars. I think we're doing pretty well considering the condition of the roads.
